100 HOURS IMMERSION

The Sushumna Yoga - 100 Hour Immersion Course is taught by international & highly respected teachers in their field.

The course covers Asana, Philosophy, Anatomy & Physiology, Pranayama, Meditation, Mantra, Kirtan/ Aarti. The eight limbed path (asht – anga in Sanskrit) of yoga and how to apply this in your life. Exercises that help your confidence grow in what you love – yoga.

THE 100 HOURS YOGA IMMERSION COMPRISES OF FIVE KEY ELEMENTS

  • Rigorous development of your own asana practice, including essentials of pranayama and meditation.

  • A comprehensive foundation in yoga Philosophy.

  • Anatomy and Physiology and its application in the practise of asana.

  • Teaching expertise including Articulation, Presenting skills and the Art of Adjusting & learning to be concise in your awareness of the other fruits of just a posture practise.

ON COMPLETION YOU WILL RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING CERTIFICATION:

Certificate of Completion from Sushumna Yoga of 100 hours towards your 200 hour registration (RYT 200) with Yoga Alliance. You can do the balance 100 hours on one of our other programmes.

THE COURSE WILL GIVE YOU:

  • An emboldened, self-aware knowledge that will enable you to to understand Level 1 asana classes confidently and competently

  • Awareness of safe practice for both teacher and student, through modification and sequencing of postures to suit an individual’s body

  • Self-confidence and belief in your ability to communicate and demonstrate.

  • Understanding of risk assessment

  • An excellent grounding in the history of yoga

  • Insightful awareness of your own practise: both an acceptance of its limits and the tools to evolve

  • An experiential foundation of yoga philosophy and how to integrate this into your life

  • An awareness of the issues that can arise for you as a teacher

  • A professional and ethical framework from which to practise

TEACHING METHODS INCLUDE:

Lectures, experiential classes, led classes, group work, exercises for learning and discovery and a review of homework.

WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT OUR COURSE:

  • Daily Mysore self -practice as taught by Shri K Pattabhi Jois, Mysore, India for 7 days and Sushumna Vinyasa Flow classes for 3 days.

  • Green juice fast days & silent days once a week.

  • Working with 4 experienced and multi-diverse teachers.

  • A year to research and read all the recommended literature & time away to practice yoga everyday as shown how.

  • If done just for your betterment & deeper understanding, life -enhancing lessons are learnt & a desire to imbibe the philosophy of yoga.

FOUNDING DIRECTOR

Sonja Appel: Founding Director (ERYT 500, YACEP, PPNCT, Mindfulness Educator)
Sonja started her journey in yoga 20 years ago with the late Shri K Pattabhi Jois from Mysore, learning the authentic Mysore self practice of Ashtanga - Vinyasa. From whom she has his blessing to teach. Sonja is certified by the 'British School of Yoga' in Hatha & Meditation & also certified as a 'Vibrant Living Teacher' in Hatha Flow and a pre + post natal, children + teens teacher with Santosha Yoga in Bali.

Having studied intensely, mainly in London, India and Bali she believes that 'living yoga' in its essence helps to impart her knowledge better and more succinctly.
Sonja started practicing yoga and mindfulness many years ago and has intensive years of experience teaching yoga. She is also registered with Yoga Alliance, E-RYT 500 and has taught over 60 000+ hours of Yoga & Teacher Training.
